Background of the Study
Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) are integrated software solutions that help organizations manage various HR functions, such as recruitment, payroll, employee records, performance management, and training. HRIS allows HR departments to automate and streamline processes, reduce manual tasks, and make data-driven decisions, thereby improving overall HR efficiency. In today’s fast-paced business environment, the adoption of HRIS has become increasingly important for organizations like Zenith Bank, which operates across various regions, including Gombe State, to manage its growing workforce effectively.

The banking sector, known for its complex and dynamic environment, requires efficient human resource management to remain competitive. Zenith Bank, a leading financial institution in Nigeria, has invested in modern HRIS to manage employee data, track performance, and enhance HR decision-making. However, the impact of HRIS on HR efficiency, particularly within Zenith Bank’s operations in Gombe State, has not been thoroughly examined.

This study seeks to evaluate the effectiveness of HRIS in improving HR efficiency at Zenith Bank. Specifically, it will investigate how the system influences HR practices such as recruitment, employee training, performance appraisals, and payroll management. Furthermore, the study aims to assess whether HRIS has led to improvements in HR service delivery, employee satisfaction, and organizational performance in Gombe State.

Statement of the Problem
Although Zenith Bank has implemented HRIS to enhance HR efficiency, there is limited research on its specific impact within the bank's Gombe State operations. The effectiveness of HRIS in improving HR processes and overall organizational efficiency remains underexplored. This study aims to address this gap by evaluating how HRIS has impacted HR efficiency and its role in improving employee satisfaction and productivity.

Objectives of the Study

  1. To assess the impact of HRIS on HR efficiency at Zenith Bank in Gombe State.

  2. To evaluate the extent to which HRIS has improved key HR functions, such as recruitment, training, and performance management.

  3. To examine the relationship between HRIS adoption and employee satisfaction with HR services at Zenith Bank.

Research Questions

  1. How has HRIS impacted HR efficiency at Zenith Bank in Gombe State?

  2. What HR functions have been most improved by the adoption of HRIS at Zenith Bank?

  3. How does the use of HRIS affect employee satisfaction with HR services at Zenith Bank?

Research Hypotheses

  1. HRIS has a significant positive impact on HR efficiency at Zenith Bank in Gombe State.

  2. HRIS adoption has led to improvements in key HR functions such as recruitment, performance management, and payroll administration.

  3. Employees who benefit from HRIS-based services report higher levels of satisfaction with HR functions at Zenith Bank.

Scope and Limitations of the Study
This study will focus on Zenith Bank employees in Gombe State, analyzing the impact of HRIS on HR efficiency and employee satisfaction. Limitations may include difficulties in accessing specific HRIS performance data and potential biases in employee feedback on HR services.
